So, I took that as a sign from the power supply to leave the fan alone, I'll find another use for the white 120mm fan - no problem there!
After wasting time on my power supply, I opted to turn my attention to the text that would grace the hood scoop that I planned for the top blow hole of the mod. I wanted it to look like the aluminium or chrome lettering used on the side of auto scoops that grace hoods all over the world. I ended up going with a fairly straight and clean font that was cut out of aluminium vinyl (had a brushed aluminium look).
I got the fans back from PoMan (stellar work... have I said that?) and I then I got to work with the stripe positioning for the window cutting. I took the 1:1 print out that I had made and laid it on the side to mark out where the window would be. You'll notice that the striping crosses over some stamped vents, and puts some of them on the edge of the stripe. I'd end up having to address this later, but it was not that difficult.
While working on the window frame, I got an idea with regard to the fan shrouds on the video card. I painted the shrouds super matte black and lightly sanded the raised lettering on the Gigabyte lettering.
This gave the raised lettering the ability to stand out by making the letters the raw silver appearance against the contrasting black background. I still like this very simple, but effective change. Once the fans were swapped to white surface mount LED's, sprayed the fan power lines with black vinyl dye, and then the fans were reinstalled in to the heatsinks, I screwed the fan shrouds back into place, and called them done!
